The New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women will host its annual Lilac Luncheon on June 15, and Primary Digest has learned that this year’s event will also include a Republican presidential straw poll.
All of the current and potential presidential candidates are being invited to attend, but it is not yet clear who will accept those invitations.
Although the credibility of straw polls is often questioned, they can sometimes serve as an indicator of organizational strength and the sentiment of a particular subset of activists. At $50-60 per ticket, the group likely hopes that campaigns will help to fill the NHFRW coffers by stacking the room with their own supporters.
In addition to ticket sales, there will be event sponsors ranging from $125 to $1000. Sponsors get invited to a VIP reception before the lunch.
The keynote speaker will be GOP strategist and Boston Herald columnist Holly Robichaud. Previous speakers have included Mitt Romney, George W. Bush, and George H.W. Bush.
This annual lunch is the organization’s major fundraiser and will take place at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord. More information is available online.
